The start of the 2024/2025 school year postponed

The calendar for the 2024/2025 school year in Cameroon has undergone a major change, according to a note published on August 6, 2024. Initially set for September 2, the start of the school year has been pushed back by one week by a joint order of the Ministry of Basic Education and the Ministry of Secondary Education.

Paragraph 2 of article 1 of this decree (to be read below) stipulates that the school year will now start on Monday September 9, 2024 at 7.30 a.m., and end on Thursday July 31, 2025 at 3.30 p.m. This decision concerns all schools, public and private, under the jurisdiction of the two aforementioned ministries. It states that during this school year, teaching/learning activities will be organized either face-to-face and/or by distance learning. In concrete terms, we learn that face-to-face teaching/learning activities concern those organized in schools, colleges and lycées for learners of a homogeneous or heterogeneous pedagogical level, as the case may be.

For the coming school year, Minesec has unveiled a number of important innovations that will be implemented from the start of the new academic year. These include the introduction of a single matricule for all public and private secondary school pupils, starting in the 6th grade. Students will keep their unique matricule throughout their school career.
